Temple, the head-worn wearable from Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal, finally has a sale date. Goyal [posted on X](https://x.com/deepigoyal/status/2112894984441692380?ref=blog.harshkohli.com) on October 21 that pre-orders for "Temple Batch 01" open on November 1, and early-access invites seen this week suggest the price is a steep ₹85,000, roughly $895.

## What happened

Temple is a small clip-like device worn on the head. It uses optical sensors to track blood flow and oxygen levels in the brain. The company calls the metric BrainFlow. Goyal says each unit is handmade to order and delivered within three months of purchase. He replied to a follower that this is about quality control and a "grow slow" approach.

The price hasn't been announced publicly. It comes from invites sent to people on the early-access list, which several of them shared on X. [The Economic Times](https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/startups/deepinder-goyals-temple-opens-waitlist-applicants-see-a-price-of-rs-85000/articleshow/135163255.cms?ref=blog.harshkohli.com) and [India Today](https://www.indiatoday.in/technology/story/temple-brain-wearable-price-deepinder-goyal-rs-85000-pre-orders-3024100-2026-10-24?ref=blog.harshkohli.com) both report the ₹85,000 figure and say it includes a lifetime subscription to Temple's health platform. ET adds that a lifetime supply of the adhesive tapes used to wear it is included too. Invitees order through the Temple app before the public window opens, and the first batch is limited.

[The Times of India](https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/technology/tech-news/zomato-founder-deepinder-goyal-shares-an-update-on-temple-device-writes-temple-batch-01-pre-orders-open-/articleshow/135110899.cms?ref=blog.harshkohli.com) reports six colour options, three of them limited editions. Temple hasn't said how many units are in Batch 01 or when shipping starts. With a three-month delivery window, November orders would likely land in early 2027.

## Why it matters

Most of us track sleep and heart rate on the wrist or finger. Temple is betting that people, starting with athletes and health obsessives, will pay a lot more for a reading taken from the head. That's a new idea for a consumer gadget, and it's coming from one of India's best-known founders rather than a big hardware brand.

I'd still be careful with it. Goyal has called Temple the smallest and most powerful wearable on the market, but reports noted he hasn't backed that up with specs or performance data. There's no independent testing yet, and nothing published on how BrainFlow numbers should change what you do day to day. For comparison, ₹85,000 is more than several flagship phones, and it buys a lot of smart rings or watches.

## What to do

- **Wait for the official listing** on November 1 before you trust any price. The current figure comes from invites.
- **Ask about returns and warranty** before paying for a handmade, made-to-order device with a three-month wait.
- **Look for real reviews.** The first independent hands-on tests should tell us whether the data is useful or just interesting.
- **Treat it as wellness tech,** not a medical device. It isn't a replacement for a doctor if you're worried about your health.

The wearable space is getting crowded and messy. Just this week [Oura sued Ultrahuman again](https://blog.harshkohli.com/oura-sues-ultrahuman-ring-pro/) over its smart ring.
