- Description: Firefox's opt-in AI Smart Window adds form filling from your open tabs and /watch page alerts. Who gets it, which AI models it uses, and limits.

Firefox's AI browsing mode just picked up two features I've wanted in a browser for a long time: it can fill in long web forms using pages you already have open, and it can watch a page and ping you when something changes. Mozilla announced both on October 27 for Smart Window, the opt-in AI side of Firefox.

## What happened

In its [announcement](https://blog.mozilla.org/en/firefox/skip-the-busywork-with-smart-window/?ref=blog.harshkohli.com), Mozilla says Smart Window can now draw on tabs you pick to suggest answers for a form. Think job applications that want your work history, or an event sign-up that asks for a short bio. Click into a form with at least four text fields and you'll see a "Fill from sources" option. You review the suggestions before anything goes in, and Firefox won't submit the form for you.

The second feature is page watching. Type /watch in the Smart Window chat, describe what you're after (a price drop, a restock, a job title at a certain company) and add up to five pages. Firefox checks daily or weekly, but only while the browser is open. You can run up to 15 tasks. A task pauses after 60 days with no match and stops completely at 90.

Both are in the Smart Window beta on desktop, in English, in the US and Canada only for now. Mozilla says other markets will follow "in the coming months", and [The Verge](https://www.theverge.com/ai-artificial-intelligence/1019551/firefox-smart-window-ai-fill-forms?ref=blog.harshkohli.com) reported the same rollout.

## Why it matters

This is the useful kind of browser AI. Nobody needs another chatbot sidebar, but copying the same paragraph into ten application forms is a real chore, and so is refreshing a product page every morning.

Read the small print on where your data goes, though. Mozilla says form filling sends the pages you choose to Google's Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite model, and page watching uses a Qwen model to spot matching changes. Your normal saved autofill, like your name and address, stays on your device and doesn't go through AI at all. So if a tab holds something private, leave it out of the sources.

It also puts Firefox closer to Safari, which added a similar "Notify Me" option with iOS 27 and macOS 27, as [9to5Mac points out](https://9to5mac.com/2026/10/27/firefoxs-ai-powered-smart-window-gets-form-autofill-and-website-monitoring/?ref=blog.harshkohli.com).

## What to do

- In the US or Canada? Grab the Smart Window beta from [Mozilla's Smart Window page](https://www.firefox.com/smart-window/?ref=blog.harshkohli.com) and try /watch on something you're waiting to go on sale.
- Check every suggested answer before you hit submit. AI-filled job applications that read like a template won't do you any favours.
- Elsewhere, you'll have to wait. Mozilla hasn't given dates for other countries.
- Letting AI near your browser? Read how a single file can [hijack an AI agent](https://blog.harshkohli.com/agents-md-downloads-folder-ai-agent-hijack/). It's a good reminder to keep the tabs you share tight.
